so way wayyy back (before planeswalker card type was introduced) I had 1 MTG comic book and I recall in it there was a hero named Gerrard and a villain named Volrath
I was still young at this point and can't remember much details of their stories
can anyone share any information about how the conflict between them ended? or even how it began?
mainly I am wondering if Gerrard finally won the war with his crew from the Weatherlight or if the battles were just an ongoing thing

I could be wrong but I think there is a large online archive of old wizards lore. Might take some doing to find it however. I really didn't pay much attention to the lore around Weatherlight into Tempest block but Gerard was the sponsor of one of my old pet cards "Gerrard's Wisdom". Fun card that rewarded you for holding on to cards and or bouncing stuff back to your hand. Volrath well he's the bad guy of the block so he gets beat up but I don't remember how. Just that he was kind of a jerk and a reject rare draft card. (A format comprised mostly of donated cards people hated.)

I'm not well read on the lore, so I'm not entirely sure this is what you're after, but I think it might be: Gerrard's Quest summary

Either way, that site seems to be a pretty immense database of lore knowledge, perhaps it's the site WW was referring to?

I'm definitely keeping it bookmarked for a rainy day. I've always wanted to dive more into the lore, but I have a hard time reading fiction, my brain just kinda glazes over. I'm kinda surprised there isn't a Marvel-esque mega-movie-series for the MTG multiverse :?

See, this is why I say Wizards' problem isn't greed, it's lazy unimaginative greed. Magic is the perfect setting for the kind of multiverse Marvel and DC keep failing to make interesting; it's not just an excuse to show the same character except EVIL/not dead/in a different costume, it's an essential element. You can make your Brother's War HBO series and your noir Ravnica thriller or whatever, say they're in the same multiverse, and you don't need to fret over one installment's impact on the overall cinematic universe because everything is happening in its own separate plane.

(You can't tell me a big-budget Brother's War series wouldn't be the biggest thing since Game of Thrones. Bigger if they don't screw it up like GoT did.)

Yep. For added ASOIAF similarity, complete with the whole conflict doing nothing but paving the way for an invasion by something infinitely worse. If you can't get good drama out of that you're not half trying.
